Things I learned En Route to Looking Other Things Up
First some real news: National Geographic published evidence of the oldest live birth (complete with umbilical cord) by a vertebrate—and it's a fish!

This little mama is about 380 million years old. Real science rocks!

Real-World Irony: According to News of the Weird (a great site, BTW), two of the Duke University lacrosse players falely accused of rape in 2006 were unable to graduate with their class this year. Seems they were too far behind in credits after defending themselves in the trial. But guess who did manage to accumulate the requisite hours? None other than "Crystal Mangum," the drug-addicted stripper who falsely accused them in the first place.

Her degree? Police Psychology. Seriously.
I need this like a hole in the head. Literally. (Warning: Disturbing video.) Why is this here? Because it's so cool!
From the "Last Days of Pompeii" file: Someone in Japan conned someone else into paying $6,100 for this watermelon. At auction. As a gift for someone else. At about $358 per pound, Kobe beef would have been cheaper!
Oh yeah, and the Algonquin Hotel in NYC will sell you a martini—as in the DRINK—for $10,000. (To be fair, it has a diamond in it.) Imagine the hangover from a night of drinking those. No impulse buyers though. The dang thing requires a 72 hour reservation.

interesting stuff. The holey guy is gross man!
