Bad Astronomer on 2012 Sunspots

The Fool's favorite astronomer, Phil Plait, has weighed in on one interesting bit of the 2012 nonsense: sunspots.

The Bad Astronomy Blog for today tells you all about it. One of the real pains in the ass about this whole 2012 thing is that there will be real science happening that year. Incredible, I know.

Phil's blog entry will tell you all about it—chock-full of sciency goodness! It also includes a link to spaceweather.com's sunspot plotter, with which you can plot solar activity for any date you want! How effing awesome is that?

So what, you say. Well, try plotting your birthday, for starters. The Fool happens to have been born at a peak of solar activity, a fact which should come as no surprise to all the Credulous Gits out there (you know who you are).

And here are some more dates I looked at:

Very Low Activity:

Obama's Inauguration Day (1/20/2009)
Hitler's Birthday (4/20/1889)
Einstein's Birthday (3/14/1879)
Darwin's Birthday (2/12/1809)
July 4, 1776
Start of WWI
Kennedy Assassination (11/22/1963)

Very High Activity:

September 11, 2001
Start of WWII (9/1/1939)
Launch of Sputnik (10/4/1957)

I'm sure you can find your own interesting conicidences.
